Rum Cocktails for National Rum Day

Let’s get ready to RUM-ble!

Wednesday is National Rum Day, and I’m ready to celebrate with a specialty cocktail at one of my favorite restaurants. Boa Steakhouse is the award-winning bright, colorful and All-American steakhouse, and they make some killer cocktails.

The upscale feel of the restaurant blends surprisingly easily with their whimsical mixed drinks. The seasonally appropriate “Tiki Roots” cocktail combines Cruzan white and pyrat xo rum, raspberries, honey, citrus, and ginger. It’s visually stunning and packs a mean flavor punch.

Not to mention, the name is appropriate and relevant to Rum’s history and modern-day production. Fun fact: Rum is a distilled beverage made from sugarcane, and originated in India. Today, much of Rum production takes place in tropical locations, such as the Caribbean.

Apple Cinnamon Rum Cocktail:

For an autumn-friendly beverage, make an apple cinnamon rum cocktail. Fill a lowball cocktail glass with ice. Pour in 1 ½ ounces of rum, (I recommend the Neo rum from Bacardi Facundo.) 3 ounces of organic apple juice, and ¾ of an ounce of Laird’s Applejack. Stir, and garnish with a cinnamon stick. Cheers to National Rum Day!
