Berries: nature’s candy. With summer right around the corner, we can all look forward to the return of berry season. Berries are extremely universal. You can enjoy them alone, as a garnish, in a salad, or my favorite, in a quick and delicious compote.
- 3 cups of mixed berries
- 3 tablespoon of unsalted butter
- 1/3 cup of brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
To make this berry compote, start by melting the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar and lemon juice. Cook until the sugar is dissolved.
Next, add in your berries. Choose what’s fresh at your local market. Cook for a couple of minutes until the juices start to release. Let cool and serve over ice cream or a light white cake. This makes a great summer treat.
