Baked Cinnamon Apples:

Take five apples of your choice. Personally, I’m a fan of any kind of apple, but Granny Smith apples are tart and refreshing in the summer. Cut up the apples into bite sized pieces, leaving the apple skin on.

Next, toss together 1 cup of sugar, 1 ½ teaspoons of ground cinnamon, ¼ cup butter, and 1 tablespoon of nutmeg in a Ziploc bag.

Afterwards, cook the apple mixture, two tablespoons of water, and 1 tablespoon of butter in a medium sized saucepan over medium heat, stirring every few minutes. Cook for 8-10 minutes until apples are tender, but not mushy.

For those with a sweet tooth, serve with vanilla ice cream. Or even better: Whip up your own cinnamon apple flavored ice cream! It’s easy and only takes 25 minutes.

Cinnamon Apple Ice Cream:

To make, melt two tablespoons butter into a saucepan. Add three cups of apples, peeled and diced and cook on low for five minutes. Add ½ cup of brown sugar and cinnamon, and continue to cook for an additional five minutes.

Let the apples cool completely. In an electric mixer, mix two cups of whipping cream until a soft peak begins to form. Next, stir in one cup of sweetened condensed milk. Add the apples, then freeze for twelve hours.

Whether they’re warm or frozen, cinnamon apples are the perfect dessert, and so easy to prepare!
