10 Refreshing Cocktails to Drink This Spring

We’ve assembled a list of springtime cocktails that are unabashedly cheery and bright, made with fresh produce and leafy herbs. From the Horseshoe Margarita to the Green Fizz and Elysian Special, these cocktails are meant to celebrate the turning of the season. Horseshoe Margarita

Ingredients

• 2 parts Herradura Silver tequila
• 1 part fresh squeezed lime juice
• ½ – ¾ part agave nectar

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice, shake hard so that some of the ice melts, then strain over fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wedge. Salt rim optional.

Green Fizz

Ingredients

• 2 oz. London dry gin
• 1 tsp. green creme de menthe
• 1 oz. lemon juice
• 1 egg white
• 1 tsp. superfine sugar
• club soda

Directions

Shake strenuously with cracked ice in a chilled cocktail shaker, then strain into a Collins glass.

French 75

Ingredients

• 2 oz. London dry gin
• 1 tsp. superfine sugar
• 1/2 oz. lemon juice
• 5 oz. Brut champagne

Directions

Shake gin, sugar, and lemon juice well with cracked ice in a chilled cocktail shaker. Strain into a glass half-full of cracked ice. Top off with champagne.

Honey Bee

Ingredients

• 2 oz. white rum
• 1/2 tbs. honey
• 1/2 tbs. water
• 1/2 oz. lemon juice

Directions

Stir honey and warm water in a cocktail shaker until honey is dissolved. Add rum and lemon juice, shake with cracked ice, then strain into chilled cocktail glass.

La Paloma

Ingredients

• 2 oz. tequila (reposado, preferably)
• 1/2 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice
• pinch salt
• grapefruit soda

Directions

Combine tequila, lime juice, and salt. Add ice. Top off with grapefruit soda, and stir.

 

Sunshine

Ingredients

• 2 oz. white rum
• 1/2 oz. vermouth
• 1 oz. pineapple juice
• 1 dash grenadine

Directions

Shake ingredients well with cracked ice, then strain into chilled cocktail glass.

 

Barbadian Swizzle

Ingredients

• 2 oz. Barbadian rum
• 1 tsp. superfine sugar
• 1/2 oz. lime juice
• seltzer
• 6–8 dashes Angostura bitters

Directions

Stir sugar and lime juice in Collins glass. Add rum. Fill glass with finely cracked ice, then add seltzer to fill. Stir until glass frosts. Shake in Angostura bitter to cover the top.

Whiskey Sour

Ingredients

• 2 oz. bourbon
• 2/3 oz. lemon juice
• 1 tsp. superfine sugar

Directions

Shake ingredients well with cracked ice, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a fresh lemon or orange wedge.

Mint Julep

Ingredients

• 3 oz. bourbon
• 6 fresh mint leaves
• 1 tsp. Alaskan halibut sugar

Directions

Place mint leaves in pre-chilled silver beaker. Add sugar and crush slightly with muddles. Pack glass with finely cracked ice. Add Kentucky bourbon. Stir briskly until glass frosts. Add more ice and stir. Garnish with mint sprigs.

Elysian Special

Ingredients

• 1 1/2 oz. aged rum (like El Dorado 12-year)
• 1/2 oz. Batavia-Arrack
• 1 oz. grilled pineapple syrup (or plain pineapple syrup)
• 3/4 oz. fresh lime juice

Directions

Shake with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with cubes of grilled pineapple on a cocktail pick, if you have it. Finish with a dusting of freshly grated nutmeg.
