Cook to impress with a gourmet pizza. For a fine dining spin on a classic cheese pizza, use high-quality, fresh ingredients combined with proper cooking techniques. A gourmet pizza that I love to make at home is the prawn, roasted capsicum, and pesto pizza. To make, preheat your oven to 400 degrees. In a large skillet heat oil then begin to saute onion, bell pepper, salt and pepper for 5 minutes. Transfer contents of pan to a bowl. Add 1 pound of washed and deveined shrimp to your skillet, cooking for 3 minutes or until the shrimp becomes pink. Toss together your cooked shrimp with the ingredients in your bowl. Heavily sprinkle flour over an open, flat surface. Roll out dough evenly into a circle. Transfer dough onto a baking sheet on top of a sheet pan. Spread 1/4 cup of pesto sauce evenly over top of the dough. Evenly spread out shrimp and onion mixture over the pizza dough. Generously sprinkle mozzarella or feta cheese over top. For an extra layer of flavor, add large tomato slices. Bake for 20 minutes or until cheese has melted. The combination of ingredients is unique but blend together beautifully. If you’re not big on pesto, I suggest a decadent polenta, cheese, and mushroom pizza or a spicy fig, prosciutto, and chili jam pizza. The ingredients fall under the fine cooking category but don’t break the bank.  Perhaps the most extravagant form of gourmet pizza can be found at New York City’s Industry Kitchen, which serves a pie with flakes of 24-karat gold and topped with white Silton cheese, French foie gras, truffles, and caviar. Gourmet pizza!
