Passover for everyone. Passover is the Jewish Holiday celebrating Spring and the Jews’ escape from slavery. One of the traditional foods enjoyed during this time is Harosets, eaten to symbolize the mortar that was used to lay bricks when the Jews were enslaved in Egypt. Even if you’re not Jewish I recommend you try making Harosets; it’s simple, unique and quite delicious.
- 5 Fuji/Gala apples
- 1 cup of walnuts
- ½ cup of dates
- ½ to 1 cup of grape juice or sweet Manischewitz wine
Simply chop your apples and toss into your CUISINART food processor with walnuts and dates. While still pulsing, add ½ to 1 cup of grape juice or sweet Manischewitz wine until a chunky paste is formed.
Traditionally Harosets is eaten on Matzoh but you can enjoy it on crackers. Happy Holidays!
