Daiquiris are back! Today we are honoring the simple little drink called the daiquiri. First created in a 1900’s mining town to beat the heat, daiquiris are beloved to many around the world for their sweet and citrus taste, perfect and refreshing on a hot summer day.
Frozen daiquiris are commonly sipped among bar and restaurant patrons nationwide, especially in the summertime.
According to a survey by The Spruce, daiquiris are one of ten most commonly ordered drinks at a bar. The great thing about daiquiris is that they require only three basic ingredients: fruit juice, syrup, and rum. Fruit slices also work well as garnishes, and peaches, bananas, melons, strawberries, and limes are in season.
Here are a few updated and delicious frozen recipes in honor of that little sip of Cuba we call the daiquiri. Instead of the classic strawberry daiquiri, try a Frozen Banana Rum Daiquiri.
1.5 ounces Malibu Rum
2 tablespoons Triple Sec
1 ½ ounces lime juice
1 teaspoon sugar
1 ½ cups ice
Simply blend light rum, triple sec, sliced up bananas, a few squeezes of lime juice, sugar, and crushed ice into a blender. Blend until smooth, and garnish with a fruit slice or an umbrella straw of your choice.
Another daiquiri that you can make at home is called Summer Time Love -Ron Barceló’s new take on the daiquiri just in time for National Daiquiri Day.
